◎本學科內容概述:
本學科為延續「英國文學I」的課程,旨在帶領學生對英國文學從18世紀到19世紀的重要作家及其作品有一個通盤的認識。本課程的內容,涵蓋不同時期重要作家最具代表性的詩歌、散文、小說或戲劇。學習的方式,以研讀文本為主,觀賞視覺媒體藝術為輔,協助學生瞭解到英國不同時期的文學、文化、歷史、哲學、宗教與政治的現象,進而加深、加廣對英國文化的認知與視野,並且提升自身的英語能力。
◎本學科教學內容大綱:
1.復辟時期重要作家的作品選讀。 2.18世紀重要作家的作品選讀。 3.浪漫主義時期 (The Romantic Period) 重要作家的作品選讀。 4.維多利亞時期 (The Victorian Age) 重要作家的作品選讀。
◎本學科學習目標:
This course surveys British Literature along chronological lines and continues with the long eighteenth century (1660-1780). Romantic period (1780s-1830s), Victorian era (1837-1901), and Modernism will be the main themes in the course. Students are expected to

• To demonstrate awareness of the scope and variety of works in the arts and humanities.
• To understand those works as expressions of individual and human values within an historical and social context.
• To respond critically to works in the arts and humanities.
• To articulate an informed personal reaction to works in the arts and humanities.
• To develop an appreciation for the aesthetic principles that guide or govern the humanities and arts.
• To manifest knowledge of the influence of literature, philosophy, and/or the arts on intercultural experiences.

1. This course will be instructed mainly in English.
2. One final project and three quizzes are expected.
3. Before submitting your final project, you are advised to talk to your course instructor before you go into your project.

5. Please note that this course has a maximum capacity of 55 students.

課堂參與討論20% : In-Class Participation
小考45% : Each quiz will take up 15% of overall score
期末考35% : Final Project
