◎本學科學習目標: English Writing (II) aims to cultivate students’ ability to write argumentative essays. Before writing formal argumentation, students must first understand and apply several foundational rhetorical styles learned in English Writing (I)—such as comparison/contrast, exposition, and cause/effect—as well as additional styles such as definition, discussion, and evaluation.
By the end of the course, students are expected to:
Use multiple rhetorical techniques (comparison/contrast, cause/effect, definition, evaluation).
Present issues objectively through discussion writing.
Evaluate topics using explicit value standards.
Construct persuasive argumentative essays that advocate a clear, defensible thesis.
This course provides essential preparation for English Writing (III): Text Report Writing. |
