◎本學科內容概述:
本學科為「文學作品導讀I」的進階課程,旨在帶領學生深入鑑賞、分析西方文學作品,並且認識西方文學的重要名詞。上課的內容,涵蓋四大文類─詩歌、散文、小說、戲劇。由於修習本課程的學生,對西方文學作品已有基本的認識,所以,相對於「文學作品導讀 I」的課程,所選用的作品,篇幅較長,文字較深。本課程的學習方式,以老師講授、帶領討論為主,兼而提供學生口頭報告與分析的機會,藉以訓練學生運用習得的知識和技巧,培養學生獨立思考和批判的能力。

1.西方文學作品四大文類說明。 2.散文的閱讀與分析技巧。 3.散文選讀作品的閱讀與分析。 4.小說的閱讀與分析技巧。 5.小說選讀作品的閱讀與分析。 6.詩歌的閱讀與分析技巧。 7.詩歌選讀作品的閱讀與分析。 8.戲劇的閱讀與分析技巧。 9.戲劇選讀作品的閱讀與分析。
◎本學科學習目標:
This course aims to introduce to students to appreciate as well as to analyse the literary works with jargons. Three main genres—short stories/fiction, poetry and drama—will be covered. Students’ reading ability and class engagement are highly expected. Pre-class reading is strongly recommended, so that students will be able to participate in in-class discussion and activities.

◎課程要求:
**To ensure the highest standards of teaching, this course is limited to a maximum of 60 students. (Once enrolment exceeds the system limit of 50 students, priority for add-codes will be given to upper-year students. Students who receive permission to add the course must, during the first week, bring the add-course form in person to the instructor for signature. If this cannot be done, the add request will not be processed. Thank you!)
**為維持授課品質,本課程學生數上限為60人。(超過系統名額50人後,由高年級同學優先加簽。獲得加簽許可之學生,需於第一週親自持加簽單給授課教師加簽。若無法達成,將不加簽。謝謝!)

1. The course will mainly be taught in English, with Mandarin occasionally in use in light of difficult jargons or concepts.
2. Preview of the assigned readings will be strongly recommended.
3. In-class discussion and class activities are also strongly encouraged.
4. Each absence (both excused and unexcused) will deduct 10 points from your overall score for class participation. Too many absences will automatically disqualify you from taking the final exam. Please pay attention to this.
