◎本學科內容概述:
本課程介紹基本的翻譯策略和翻譯過程可能遇到的問題。透過修習本課程,學生可認識如增譯法、減譯法、詞性轉譯等翻譯策略。此外,本課程也將探討翻譯不同文本時所應具備的應對技巧。

◎課程要求:
1. Attendance is the base of your class performance, without which students will lose 20 % of your final score. Three absences from class, with no satisfying cause, will mean failure in this course.
2. The whole class will be divided into groups of 4-5 for class activities (including discussions, oral reports etc.)
3 Students will be asked to learn to earn the credits by previewing and reviewing /studying the techniques introduced in the textbook.
2. Participation is highly anticipated. Discussion will be encouraged because one can always learn more from others' interpretation.
3. Every meeting will begin or end with the outline of the chapter, in a form of quiz, to facilitate the teaching of the skills.
4. Read more Chinese and English articles, so that we can imitate the styles we enjoy when doing our own translation.
◎成績考核
課堂參與討論25% : Class discussion will be held. Students have to prepare their version of translation as offered beforehand before the class begins.
小考15% : Quizzes are given and marked to see if the students are finished with assigned reading section for each week.
期中考30% : midterm on the skilled taught in class
期末考30% : (Weeks 17-18) Students as a group will be asked to give an oral report on their chosen translation, if granted the chance to do a research project, or all the class are supposed to take a final test

補充說明:1. Tips for the course: Understand the text/ skills (reading), talk about the translated text(class discussion), and then translate any thing that interests you as a way of mastering a second language. 2. Practice and practice and you will become better at the end of the course.
