This course aims to introduce to students the concept of "narrative medicine" and its relation to literature and the study of health/medical humanities. With the medicine being constructed as a highly hierarchical and specialised subject, it is this course's purpose to shed a different light on medicine through literature and culture. Students will learn
1. to listen to the voices and stories of patients and caregivers
2. to reimagine the relationship among doctors, patients, and caregivers
3. how narrative medicine can provide medical humanities with a holistic view and by affirming the interdependence of literature and medicine |
