◎本學科內容概述: 本課程旨在帶領學生對美國從殖民地時期到20世紀時期的文學作品有一個通盤的認識。課程的內容涵蓋四大文類:詩歌、散文、小說與戲劇,所選讀的作品取材自不同時期中,主流社會或少數族群的重要作家之代表作品。學生藉由以研讀文本為主,觀賞視覺媒體藝術為輔的學習方式,得以深入瞭解美國多元文化的精神、理念與價值觀,並且提升自身的英語能力。 |

◎本學科學習目標: The objective of this course is to guide students to make a survey of the diversity of American Literature. Aside from the works of the recognized white writers, black literature, Native American and Asian American’s works shall also be introduced and studied in order to help students recognize the achievement of the colored people and the cultural diversity in the U.S. |

◎課程要求: Requirements:
1.Whole English in class.
2.Active participation in class discussion. Extra point/s shall be given to students who raise questions, share ideas, make suggestions/interpretations to create brain-storming in class.
3.students must participate in assigned team works, discussion, papers and oral presentations.
4.Three absences without leaves will automatically NULLIFY the absentee’s final
score. |

2. Students can choose to write 10-page-long term papers instead of taking midterm and final sit-in examinations. |
