◎本學科內容概述:
本學科以文本研讀切入 ,了解各時期戲劇與各 時代的精神連結。期中 後,由實務導入教學, 以工作坊的方式,請業 師協同教學,期待期未 能以劇場方式作結,將 靜態文字轉換成動態的 表演。
◎本學科教學內容大綱:
教學內容從古典戲劇到後現代戲劇。作品包括 依底帕斯王/Oedipus the king, 莉西施翠坦/Lysistrata, 眾人/ Everyman, 莎劇一本/ one Shakespearean play, 現代劇一本/ selected modern drama, 後現代劇一本/ one postmodern drama.
◎本學科學習目標:
The course aims to initiate English majors into a fuller understanding of western drama by plunging them into appreciating some well-known works from great playwrights. After midterm, students will be asked to learn how to re-write

◎課程要求:
1. Attendance counts. To attend the class means to get score. Each session will start with a quiz plus a class discussion. So make sure you come to learn and to earn. Quizzes are heavily scored, which means that absence from the classes would result in a potential failure of this course. ( Before the class, videos and materials related to the topics assigned will be posted on the e-learning platform. The quiz will be focused on the videos and stuff there.)
2. After your understanding the texts, you will be asked to share and talk about your interpretations of the works in question and even give an oral report on th topics assigned. (to be picked up in class)
3. Though the final will be accessed by either a performance filmed and presented onstage in the final week (week 18, or a final exam (to be approved), performances are presumed because we will have an experienced and prestigious director to instruct you how to make a film out of your dramatic presentation.
◎成績考核
課堂參與討論20% : discussions to be held and scored accordingly
小考20% : quizzes at the start of each session
期中考30% : midterm
期末考30% : Final
