There will be some class presentations using real world cases. You will critically review these papers on an appropriate topic and then give an oral presentation or attend class discussion (to be announced).
Project description
There will be a course project involving the design, implementation, population, and querying of a small database, using Oracle or a similar relational database management system. The project is an important part of this course. There will be progress reports due during the term and a final report at the end of the term.
Project
There is a mandatory project based on a real-world App database application approved by the instructor. Students will complete the tasks outlined below. As the project contains 25% of the grade, it is important that you spend enough time to achieve the project goals. The project goals are: (1) Understand a real world problem, design an App system; (2) Design your project complete including DB, I/O, processing, and documents; (3) Demonstrate your project to the class. Develop an E-R model or a UML model for this DB. (4) Determine SOP for all the processes. |
