◎本學科學習目標：
本課程透過各項專題的閱讀與討論，以探究歐洲近代歷史發展中文化的多樣性、一致性與核心價值。
課程設計除搭配文獻閱讀與影片欣賞等視聽教學之外，並與日本宮崎大學實施視訊教學合作，讓學生對菁英文、大眾文化等有更具體的認識及了解，以培養明辨是非的涵養、可獨立判斷之歷史思維、以及進行史學研究及應用之能力，以從事文化產業與地方文史工作相關之工作。
"The History of Modern culture in Europe" intends to explore the cultural diversities and similarities in mainly western European countries through different topics. Group Students will read and discuss together various materials to learn different aspects of modern European cultures, and to establish a better understanding of the development of the world as well as the mankind. The course then aims to train students to develop critical thinking, independent research, express themselves, and build up proper academic attitudes. |

◎課程要求：
課程重視理論的實際應用。課程作業分成書面作業與實際操作兩項：
1.書面作業：於每次案例研究與海外視訊教學後繳交心得報告以幫助學生進行反思。
2.實際操作：搭配影片欣賞，以討論及案例分析的方式，幫助學生更加熟習跨領域元素在全球化時代所發揮的影響力。
3.團體討論：成績由同組同學互評
